We'll call this the "Japanese girl sitting on an oversized die"
layout. I don't really know why people name their layouts
(I've never bothered with naming one).. but we'll go for that today.
Rest assured, I'm aware that it's bad, so it will be fixed.
Anyway, onto a quick blurb as to what this is.
[Or, feel free to skip it and go back to the top and go directly
to the codec]
For anyone who's played the PSX/PC game "Metal Gear Solid" (along
with the PS2/XBOX game "Metal Gear Solid II/Substance", GBC game
"Metal Gear Ghost Babel"/"Metal Gear Solid" and the MSX-2 game
"Metal Gear: Solid Snake", however, the only directly important
one is the PSX/PC version), you are likely quite familiar with the
Codec. Throughout the game, you're constantly going back and
forth between receiving calls, calling people because you're stuck,
or otherwise on that Codec screen. For the most part, the plot of
the game is advanced through the Codec. Now, I personally thought
it would be interesting to actually be able to communicate with
people through the Codec (I blame it on sitting through the screen for
too long). However, I have a thing against getting things implanted
into my ear.. and not many other people have one. So, I decided
that it would be nice to have the next best thing: and
internet-based Codec. As far as I've been able to tell, however,
no one else has thought that this was a good idea, as I couldn't find
one. So, I made my own.
In a nutshell, that's what this is. And yes, it needs a cooler name.
Rest assured, I spent most of my time and effort on the Codec itself,
so it looks far better than this page does.
It's fairly self-explanatory. Load the page, type a name, type a
message, click the button. Want to pick a different picture? The
pick a name from the pull-down menu and change it. Yes, at this
point there's no distinguishing between left and right. I'll fix
that in the future.
And with that, v. 1.0 of the MGS Codec is released.
