04/10/2008: "[At Work] Killing time"

Not a whole lot to say.. just here at work, a tad on the bored side, doing those things that I do. I had two tests today, so it's been a mad rush of studying yesterday and today, but all in all I think I did all right. I also had a 10~ minute speech (debate) on Tuesday to prep for (I may or may not have mentioned this before). For anyone who's curious, I have the debate in English attached to this post (along with the Japanese one, for those of us who are Japanese-inclined) under "more.." at the end of this.

Other than that.. not much. Work, school, work, some school, and then "WHOA! It's the weekend!" so I do some more studying and/or absolutely nothing.. then I go back to the work and school thing. Ironically enough, in roughly 2 months I'll be doing the "work, work, work, and some more work" schedule.. but.. we'll see how it goes.

It's been a pretty normal, bland week. Not much in store of this weekend, other than possibly going to a festival thing. We'll see..!

Ideally, I'll have more to say when I write next. For now, I just sit here for a little longer and wonder why I forgot my iPod.. blah.

We must not allow the violence and sex in media!

Usually, children learn about culture, life, society, and especially right and wrong from their parents. However, because both mother and father working is becoming common, children learn about these things from the media. Long ago, children would emulate their parents. Now, like film in a camera, they copy what they see.

Because of this, we cannot allow for violent and sexual media. At their base (basically), children are good and pure. As they get older, they naturally become bad. If they are not controlled, they won’t learn about harmony or about others. Due to what they see (the terrible media), they become more damaged. They cannot understand reality and imagination, so they will only copy what they see. In movies, they think this is real, so they want to act like these adults. Images and ideals become strange. If they see violence on TV, they believe that violence is also okay in the world. If all they see every day is sex and violence, they start to like it. Children cannot separate these things. It is the parents’ duty to make them become good people.

Movies and television usually convey a bad message. However, they can also do good. For example, they can explain about history, travel, or other cultures. They can tell children how to be good adults. Videogames are totally different. They have no good points. They are poison for children’s development.

Movies and television programs explain bad behavior, but video games teach and train children how to do terrible things. If you let your child play them, it becomes like a drug to the child, and they slowly they stop caring about reality. All they can think about is killing. Soon, they think they more they kill, the more their points will rise.

In the beginning, it was fun. It was a game. But now, it’s very serious. They don’t go outside anymore, they don’t play with friends, they don’t eat, and they don’t do homework. Soon, his only friend is Mario. Later, he thinks he is Mario. Your child will emulate Mario’s behavior. When he finds a mushroom, he’ll eat it, and when he sees a turtle, he’ll jump on it to kill it.

If you really do care about your child and his mental state, then you must not allow there to be violence and sex in media. We must stop it and protect our children.

媒体の暴力・せい描写を許さない！

最近、子供たちにいいメッセージを伝える物の数は年々減少しています。大体、子供たちが両親から文化や社会や善と悪などを学びます。しかし、今はお父さんとお母さんが働いているから、こういうことについて媒体から学びます。昔、子供さんが両親を真似ます。現在、カメラのフィルムのように、見ることを真似ます。

この理由で、私たちが媒体の暴力・性描写を許すことができません！基本的に、子供の心は定形のないものみたいです。年を取れば取るほど、自然に悪くなります。子供が手を焼かなかったら、調和などについてぜんぜん学べません。いつも見ているもののせい、つまり恐ろしいメディア、子供の心がもっと悪い形に化けます。想像、現実の差が分かることができないので、見ることばかり真似ます。映画の中で、子供が本当だと思うから、そのような大人のすることもしたくなります。理想も変になってしまいます。テレビで暴力を見たら、すぐ本当の世界でも大丈夫を信じます。毎日、せい・暴力描写ばかり見たら、好きになってしまいます。想像も、現実も、分けることができません。子供たちがいい社会人になることが両親の一番大切な本分です。

映画やテレビなどの伝えるメッセージはとても悪いです。しかし、いいメッセージも伝えることができます。例えば、歴史や旅行や外の国の文化などについて説明できます。子供にいい社会人になることも明確にできます。テレビゲームったら、ぜんぜん違います。一つのいい点でさえ、見つけることができません。それは子供の発育の毒です。

映画とテレビ番組が悪い行為を説明するけれど、ゲームは酷いことの仕方を教えて、鍛えます。子供さんにゲームをさせてあげたら、麻薬に手を出すように、少しずつ現実のことが気にしなくなります。殺すことしか考えることができません。また、子供の考え方はもっと殺せば殺すほど、ポイントもあがることになってしまいます。

最初は、楽しました。ゲームだけでした。しかし、今はとてもまじめになります。子供たちは外へもう行かなかったり、友達と遊ばなかったり、家族と食べなかったり、宿題もしなかったりします。そして、子供さんの友達はマリオしかじゃありません。その後、子供さんはマリオになったと思うようになります。マリオの行為を真似てしまいます。きのこを見たら、食べて、亀を見ると、すぐ殺すために飛びます。

時々じゃなくて、ゲームというものはいつも極端に危ないです。子供さんの心境が本当に心配したら、媒体の中で暴力・性描写を許さないはずです！子供を守るために、止めましょう！

At anycase, I read through the whole thing, and I could come up with a response to that if I was in the opposite end, but I'm at work right now, so I can't. =P although I can almost agree completely with you on the topic, but there are a few things that I can disagree.

Anyways, I was reading through your past journal entries... and found on one ofthem that you got something for me while you were in Korea(I think it's me 'cus I saw the name Conker) unless there's another Conker that you know... wait, are you cheating on me? xD jk. Well, if it's for me Thanks alot dude, I can't believe you remeber me while you were on your trip.

I'll try to get on YIM this week, although my life right now is kinda chaotic. =P At anycase, Thanks yo. ^_^
